DESCRIPTION

Packaging claims are an important marketing tool for food companies. Are you planning to say your product is plant-based, gluten-free, low glycemic, high in protein, or responsibly sourced? Perhaps you’re making a functional food with a few key active ingredients. Or maybe you just want to say that yours is better than the competition. Many terms are legally regulated, and makers are responsible for choosing language that protects their brand and their customers. Attorney Rebecca Cross, whose area of expertise is food safety, litigation and regulatory issues, will advise attendees on how to best navigate this complicated legal terrain.

During this talk, Rebecca will draw on case studies and her experiences in food law to advise how brands can use language to stay in the good graces of the FDA and avoid legal challenges from competitors and Big Food. This talk will focus on how food policy and regulation intersects with marketing and smart brand management.
