Barista & Server

Job Summary:
We are looking for a enthusiastic and personable food and coffee lover to join our front of the house café team. An ideal candidate will be able to multitask, work independently, practice sound judgment, and manage downtime effectively. Individuals with restaurant, barista, retail, and/or customer service experience preferred, but we are willing to provide training too!

Responsibilities:
– Provide friendly and attentive customer service.  Greet guests, take food and drink orders, process payments.
– Make espresso, coffee and tea drinks
– Serve breakfast, brunch, and lunch meals
– Maintain a clean and organized dining room and counter space.  Wipe down tables, clear plates.
-Restock merchandise and supplies as necessary
– Educate the public as a “brand ambassador” for KitchenTown

HOURS AND SCHEDULE: 
– 14-20 hours, part-time with potential to full-time

Marketing Intern: Content

The Opportunity:

The KitchenTown Internship Program is a unique opportunity to work and learn inside our food innovation center.  You’ll be learning alongside founders, food scientists, operational experts, marketers, chefs, and everyone in between who makes it all happen.  You will have access to the same knowledge and resources that we give our founders, and receive an inside look at what it takes to build an impact-driven food business from the ground up.   

 

Internship Description:

 

Dates (flexible):  June – mid-August

Hours (flexible): 20-30 hours, on-site in San Mateo, CA  

 

Our marketing and communications department works closely with every part of the KitchenTown ecosystem to bring our brand story to life.  As a Marketing Intern, you’ll learn how we craft the KitchenTown story, how to create great content that’s useful for our target audience, contribute to our library of resources for founders, and track .  You’ll have the opportunity to work collaboratively with founders and KitchenTown team members, produce your own content, and explore different marketing tactics.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Research and brainstorm new ideas for KitchenTown content
  • Produce, write, and edit original content for KitchenTown blog, newsletter, and social media
  • Assist in updating and maintaining online communications (website, social media, newsletter)
  • Assist in tracking and optimizing content for maximum engagement
  • Help build and formalize KitchenTown’s startup toolkit and resources for founders
  • Research and brainstorm new ideas for KitchenTown education program
  • Assist in planning KitchenTown education events

Marketing Intern: Design

The Opportunity:

Our marketing and communications department works closely with every part of the KitchenTown ecosystem to bring our brand story to life.  As a Graphic Design intern, you’ll focus on how we illustrate our brand through infographics, illustrations, and photography. You’ll brainstorm new and different ways to communicate across web and print mediums and have the opportunity to create new work to support the marketing department. You will contribute to KitchenTown’s evolving brand guidelines and have the opportunity to have a lasting impact on our visual style.  

 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Brainstorm and create infographics, illustrations, and photos that support the KitchenTown brand story and marketing strategy
  • Brainstorm and create ways to increase efficiency and productivity with Photoshop and InDesign templates
  • Food and product photography and styling
  • Graphic design of event posters, resource guides, social media and more.

 

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign primarily)
  • Interested in food, entrepreneurship, marketing and graphic design
  • Curious and willing to explore and learn
  • Able to follow directions and work independently
