Position Overview

KitchenTown is launching a new innovative product for a major coffee company. 

The Head of Food Service Sales will play a critical leadership role in launching and scaling the product within the U.S. foodservice market. This is a ground‑floor opportunity for a strategic, entrepreneurial sales leader who thrives in a startup environment and is motivated by building something from the ground up.

As employee #1 in foodservice sales, this role will own the development and execution of sales strategy, build deep relationships across distributors and operators, and collaborate closely with internal teams to drive profitable growth. Based on performance, this role offers the opportunity to expand and lead a growing sales organization as the business evolves.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and implement sales strategies tailored to the U.S. foodservice industry, identifying growth opportunities aligned with company objectives.
  • Meet and exceed sales targets by leveraging operator data systems to build prospect lists and manage a robust sales pipeline.
  • Plan and execute sales campaigns with timely follow‑up, including in‑person product demonstrations, to drive profitable channel growth.

Account & Relationship Management

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, including distributors, regional operators, and national chain partners.
  • Develop, manage, and grow a portfolio of priority accounts through email, video calls, regular in‑person field visits and sales calls as necessary.
  • Strengthen customer relationships by driving growth and profitability while providing ongoing product education and training.
  • Develop and manage relationships with core regional and national chain operators.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration & Market Presence

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to support sales opportunities and translate customer insights into actionable business strategies.
  • Assist with and participate in marketing initiatives, food shows, and industry trade events to build brand awareness and demand.
  • Troubleshoot and respond to product complaints and customer issues in a timely, solutions‑oriented manner.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of sales experience with a strong background in the foodservice industry; coffee experience is highly desirable.
  • Proven success selling to national multi‑unit operators and non‑commercial foodservice operators.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and execute strategic sales plans that support company growth targets.
  • Experience working with CRM systems and nurturing leads through the full sales cycle.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong planning, follow‑up, and problem‑solving abilities.

Preferred Experience & Attributes

  • Prior experience in a startup or early‑stage organization, including launching products into the U.S. foodservice channel.
  • Entrepreneurial, self‑starter mindset with the ability to operate independently and make decisive judgment calls.
  • Deep familiarity with the foodservice distributor and operator landscape.
  • Ability to drive cross‑functional alignment and thrive in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
  • Nimble, adaptable, and comfortable pivoting in real time as business needs change.
  • Full-time, exempt position. Remote, with one day per week in our San Mateo,CA office.
